20 Fun Things to do in Miami at Night
Nightlife
Miami is arguably most known for its incredible nightlife. Whether you want to go to a swanky cocktail bar or hit the clubs, you are in luck.
1. Go clubbing at LIV Miami, STORY, or Space
This is probably the most obvious option, but a fantastic option nonetheless. Miami is world-renowned for its nightlife, so you really cannot go wrong spending a wild night out at the clubs. You can find any sort of niche you’re looking for: gay clubs, EDM clubs, dance clubs, and more.
LIV Miami is a good place to start as it is Miami’s most famous club. Other options you might like to check out include STORY and Space.
Depending on which part of the city you are staying in or want to go out in, you will be able to find a variety of different options. If you are staying in South Beach, you will be able to walk to some of the best clubs in the area.
South Beach is often described as having some of the wildest nightlife in the world, so be prepared for a long night if you go out down there. If you are staying in the downtown Miami area, there are plenty of cocktail bars to grab a few drinks at.

2. Karaoke at Sweet Caroline
If clubbing is not your scene but you still want somewhat of a wild and fun night, try karaoke. Miami is home to many karaoke bars where you and your friends can sing the night away.
Our favorite is Sweet Caroline because of their wide variety of music and the great energy from all employees and patrons. Karaoke is perfect for everyone from solo travelers to bachelorette parties. Do note that many bars are 21 and up, so this option might not be suitable for families.
If you are looking for a lighthearted and fun way to spend a night, then a karaoke bar is the place to be. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and listen to great music.
Karaoke is a judgment free environment, so do not worry if you do not have the most perfect voice. Everyone is welcoming and supportive, so let your guard down and have a great time. One of the best Miami night activities.

3. Visit a Jazz bar
You can find some speakeasys in Miami that offer live Jazz music like none other. The Betsy in South Beach offers a Jazz Festival throughout the month of April, and other Jazz events throughout the year. There are other Jazz Festivals in January, March, April, and November, so you are in luck throughout the year if you are a jazz lover.
If you would rather not go to a bar to listen to some jazz, the Museum of Contemporary Art offers a live jazz concert on the last Friday of every month. Pair that with some excellent art, and you have built yourself a wonderful date night with your partner.
Finally, The Corner is regularly voted as the best jazz night in the city and has some of the best cocktails to pair. This downtown spot is heavily trafficked by locals, so you will be in great company whenever you go. Their Jazz Tuesdays should not be missed.
4. Catch a show at a comedy club
The Villain Theater in Miami is a great place to catch a stand-up or improv show. Tickets are free for standard community improv or stand-up, while tickets for mainstream headliners can run around $20. The reviews are fantastic and you are sure to have lots of laughs. One of the best free things to do in Miami for sure, if you are looking for a budget friendly activity.
Another great comedy club is the Miami Improv Comedy Theater, which is a 21+ club and restaurant with a two drink minimum. They have events almost nightly, from big names to local improv performers looking for their big break. It is one of the best places to go in Miami at night if you ask me.
Comedy shows are a wonderful way to spend a night, have some drinks, and share some laughs with loved ones. If a club is not your scene, try out a show.
Culture
Miami has many distinct neighborhoods and cultural activities where you can spend a night learning new things, eating different foods, or taking in the sights and sounds of the city.
5. Walk around Little Havana
If you are Cuban, or you love Cuban food, or you just want to learn a little about Cuban culture, then head over to Little Havana. You can watch Cuban cigars being made, you can try a delicious Cuban sandwich, or drink some Cuban coffee.
Little Havana is always bustling, so you can go any night of the week and find plenty of things to do. If you are short on time in Miami, try out a Little Havana walking tour where a guide can teach you all you need to know about Cuban culture in Miami, and you can try great food and meet new people.
Depending on what you are looking for, you could learn to dance or just enjoy the great food. When walking around at night anywhere in Miami, be sure you are aware of your surroundings. Also note that not much English is spoken in this area.

6. Walk around Little Haiti
Little Haiti is a cultural epicenter of Miami, featuring colorful murals, plenty of street food vendors, and many different kinds of Caribbean art.
Start off at the Little Haiti Cultural Center to learn a little bit about what the area has to offer. It is only open until 6pm, so start your night a little early. Throughout the month, you can find the Caribbean Marketplace and Sounds of Little Haiti, which will transport you to the island. Stroll through some awesome art galleries and vintage shops to help support local business owners and find unique goods of all kinds.
Have dinner at Chef Creole or Sherwood’s Bistro for authentic creole and Haitian food.
Finish your night at The Citadel, which offers great food and local vendors. Haitian culture is just as influential but much less recognized than Cuban culture throughout the United States, so we highly encourage learning and experiencing the community while you are in town.
7. Explore Coconut Grove
Coconut Grove is one of the more upscale areas of Miami. Here, you can find shops, cafes, and restaurants worthy of a night out.
If you are looking for a high end atmosphere to spend with loved ones, Coconut Grove is the place for you. It is located right on the Biscayne Bay, so there is no shortage of views. Be sure to stop by CocoWalk, a shopping and dining center right in the middle of everything.
Coconut Grove is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Miami and was founded in 1873. The area in one word feels lush; it is lined with beautiful trees and has a calm vibe about it.
This area is one of Miami’s historic Black communities, so it is filled with lots of cultural opportunities. Sometimes referred to as “The Grove,” it is often described as one of the “hippest” areas of Miami with a very Bohemian feel.
8. Catch a movie
Movies are a fun way to spend a night all around the world, and Miami is no exception. At the time of writing, major films like Morbius, The Batman, Uncharted, and Spiderman: No Way Home.
If old films are more your speed, you can check out one of the many vintage theaters in Miami. Coral Gables Art Cinema has indie and vintage films in a modern environment, serving beer and wine to those 21 and up. They are constantly rotating their selection of films, so be sure to give them a look when you are in town.
Going to the movies is a tried and true date night that never seems to fail. Depending on what kind of experience you are looking for, you can see a movie in an upscale theater with a full menu, or you can grab some buttery popcorn and catch a classic.
9. Wynwood Walls art walk
Wynwood Walls is a collection of outdoor murals painted by some incredibly talented artists. It is open until 7:00pm on weeknights and 8:00pm on weekends.
We think going right before closing is the best time to go because the crowds are diminished, the heat has cooled down, and the sunset backdrop on the murals is breathtaking. The Walls regularly get new murals, anywhere from two to four times a year. They are all held to the same high standard, but the variety means that there is always a reason to go back.
Started in 2009, Wynwood Walls aims to celebrate some of the best street artists and graffiti artists in the world. They initially started with just six buildings, but this has now grown into over 80,000 square feet of wall murals. It is so important to support this underrated form of art, and it is truly astonishing to see in person.
10. Learn to salsa
This experience is one of the highest rated experiences in all of Miami. Although we have not been lucky enough to try it, we want to and think you should too.
This specific experience lasts for about two and a half hours, but you have the option of having dinner with the host and fellow guests for an hour prior to the event. The fee also includes an appetizer tasting and a mojito along with the lessons, well worth the price. All the reviews say that it is a unique experience that is tons of fun, so it is on the top of our list of things to do when we make it back to Miami.
Learning to salsa is a wonderful way to connect with the local culture and meet new people, especially if you are a solo traveler. Salsa is a combination of some Cuban dances mixed with American dances, so it is no surprise that it is so prevalent throughout Miami.
11. Museum of Illusions
This different kind of museum is open until 9pm on weeknights and 10pm on weekends. The museum is split into two parts: one part is the museum itself, and the other is something called “Smash It!” which is an area where you can break things and let out any pent up anger that you are dealing with.
We love this for a fun date night to unleash your inner child. Tickets for one adult for admission to the museum and Smash It! costs $45. Depending on how many people you have in your party, you can go for packages that provide discounts per person.
The interactive museum has a variety of different 3D illusions and art that will have you confused by the end. There are plenty of different photo opportunities for the whole family. We love this museum for a fun night out on the town with your children.
12. Take selfies at the Original Selfie Museum
Located just a three minute walk from Wynwood Walls, the Original Selfie Museum is a photo opportunity waiting to happen. Each backdrop has a ring light to help with lighting. Do note that there are no tripods to take your photo, as the sets are designed for selfies.
If you want pictures other than selfies, be sure to go with a friend. There are lockers to store belongings while going through the museum. The entrance fee is $29, but most people that go say it is more than worth it.
13. Go shopping
Can you think of a stress reliever quite like shopping? We sure can’t! Miami has everything from high end retailers to fun thrift shops, so feel free to spend hours walking in and out of your favorite stores. Many stores located in popular tourist destinations will stay open well into the evening, so stop in after happy hour.
If you are looking for a rec, Dolphin Mall is a popular place to go shopping in Miami.
We highly recommend any opportunity to support small business owners throughout Miami. This wonderful city is home to many talented individuals that sell art and all kinds of experiences, so try and avoid chains and support locals if at all possible.
14. Bayside Marketplace
The Bayside Marketplace is typically open until 10pm on weeknights and 11pm on weekends. You can find retailers, concerts, a marina, and restaurants here. This two story open air marketplace is the number one most visited attraction in Miami, so you know it had to make our list. There are over 150 shops, including major retailers and local vendors alike.
The marketplace is also often home to popup exhibitions, like the Dino Safari Adventure that is running through April 17, 2022. They announce new exhibitions regularly, so check out their website for more information.
15. Get scared at Paranoia Miami
This maze and haunted house experience is designed to scare you. If you like being scared and staying alert, then this is the experience for you. It is intensely scary, but they do provide a safe word just in case it becomes too much for you.
There are a lot of rules and regulations to keep you and their staff safe throughout the experience, so be sure to follow them. Tickets cost $25 for the main experience and $35 for the main plus an additional experience. If you happen to be visiting on your birthday, you get in free!
Many reviewers say it feels very real and is one of the only haunted houses that they found to be scary, so you get lots of value for your dollar here.
16. Try and escape an escape room
If you love to solve puzzles, then this is a great experience to do on a date night or with the family. They have a variety of different rooms based on difficulty and age, so check each of them out before booking.
Each room is designed for groups of two to eight people and lasts for 60 minutes. Escape rooms are the new craze and are continuously voted as a great team bonding activity, so you can participate in this with any group of people.
Nature
You do not have to save nature for the day, as there are plenty of ways to experience wildlife or get active at night.
17. Night Time Paddle Boarding
If you like to paddleboard, look no further than this night time paddle boarding experience where you get to see the gorgeous lights of downtown Miami. This experience has over 1500 reviews at 5 stars, so you know you are getting an excellent experience. Be aware that you will get wet, especially if you lose your balance and fall into the water. Life jackets are provided, but basic swim skills are helpful.
Paddle boarding is extremely popular throughout Miami among locals, and this experience is a great way to connect with the city and learn about its vibrant history. If you have never paddle boarded before, no worries. The instructor is helpful and happy to assist anyone struggling.
A really adventurous activity in Miami after dark.
18. Take a sunset cruise
The sunset in Miami is like no other, but it is even prettier when watching it from the water. This cruise sails along the Miami skyline on a 78’ catamaran.
With over 2800 feet of deck space, you will not have to worry about feeling cramped. However, if this option does not meet your budget or desired experience, Miami has many different companies offering sunset cruises throughout the area.
We think that a sunset cruise can be a great date night or a family friendly activity for anyone visiting. Personally, I think it is one of the most romantic things to do in Miami at night.
19. Miami Sunset Private Helicopter Tour
This is something that you would see on The Bachelor. A private helicopter tour is a unique way to see this magical city, and a great way to spend a night in Miami.
Watching the sunset from the clouds is a once in a lifetime experience. You will fly over Biscayne Bay and Miami Beach, among other destinations. The pilot will tell you everything you need to know about Miami.
Reviewers have noted that they were initially concerned about getting airsick, but this ended up not being an issue. Although everyone is different, the pilots are highly trained and will make the ride as smooth as possible.
20. Go night fishing in Miami Beach
This experience starts off with a sunset and ends with you catching an 80 pound fish. Different species of fish are easier to find at night, so you can expect to see grouper, mackerel, snapper, and more.
When you book a charter with a certified company, you get to use all their gear and expertise. Night fishing is a great way to get active and connect with nature.
These fish are easier to catch at night because the water is typically more calm, and this is when they come out to hunt. You can have better visibility than daylight as your eyes adjust to the nighttime, and you are more likely to catch a bigger fish in the dark than you are during the day.
When learning the ins and outs of night fishing from these professionals, you are sure to have a memorable night.
At the end of the day…
Whether you just moved to Miami or are only there for a weekend, there is plenty to do all day and all night. Miami has something for everyone, which is what makes it so great. If you want to stay out until 5am at clubs, you can. If you want to connect to your Haitian roots and eat some great food, you can.
No matter what you decide to do, make sure to stay safe and have fun.
